Mexico Mission – contact Pastor Roger
Annual work trips to Mexico have concentrated on building a church near Monterrey and serving the children at an orphanage in Neuvo Laredo. New opportunities include building affordable housing in a poverty-stricken area in Aqua Prieta, just south of the border at Douglas, Arizona. These trips have been described as life-changing by many participants; we go in order to serve, and often discover that it is in the course of serving that we are blessed. Relief Effort in New Orleans
October 14-21, 2006
Members of Advent traveled to the New Orleans area to assist in post-hurricane clean up and recovery. We teamed up with Christ the King and Trinity Lutheran Churches from the New Orleans area.

What we did: Tasks included tearing out walls and interior fixtures that had been damaged by water and mold, treated structures to destroy mold, replaced drywall and ceiling, and other types of relief. There was also need for people to prepare and serve meals to volunteers at the volunteer camps.

Where we stayed: Christ the King opened up its church doors to serve as the overnight camp. We slept on cots in large tents and showered at the church.
